PEOPLE

PROFILE | An Open Platform for a Place-Based Smart City

NODE is an open platform which combines practice and research in the field of architecture in its relationship with new media technologies. Rather than just implementing smart technologies, our focus is on how they could change the meanings and uses of space, providing unique and integrated solutions with places and people. Therefore, NODE aims to contribute to a place-based approach for smart cities, combining problem-solving with sense-making.

STRATEGIES | From Bigness to Connectivity

In the context of smart cities, NODE reflects on a new paradigm for architecture: the shift from scale to connectivity. More than looking at form, our main concern is on how to provide links and relations. For this reason, our design rather than just being about material or virtual environments, it is about the interfaces between them.

ORGANIZATION | BIM/Computational Design

NODE is based on digital collaboration and is a native BIM organization. As a management strategy, every design phase is entirely developed combining the widest range of environmental informations which are controlled digitally and are strictly related to architectural solutions at every scale – including big data analysis at urban scale. NODE focuses on BIM not only as an execution process but as a research field improving sustainability through data and computing.
